It’s 4:30 in the afternoon.
You glance over at your list of things to do. Another day… wasted.
You think back on your day. Hours blurred in Facebook, random Youtube videos, trips to the bathroom and a myriad of other meaningless distractions.
This can’t keep happening. You silently promise to yourself that things will be different from now on.
The only problem…
You don’t trust yourself anymore
Your promises feel weak. You’ve made them before, hundreds of times.
You can’t trust that tomorrow will be any different.
It’s as if from the moment you wake up, you’ve already lost. You’ve beaten yourself.
I know, painfully well how this feels. It’s the curse of being your own enemy, working against yourself, and trying to fight off a world set out to distract you.
We live in a time where there are more distractions and shiny objects trying to pull our attention than ever.
Most of us suffer from massive decision fatigue syndrome. Our inboxes are chaos. Our lists and projects are disorganized and haphazard.
Not to mention the texts, the Facebook messages, the DMs and voicemails.
If you want to have any hope of getting shit done and furthering your dreams, you must be the ruler of your own time.
Seriously, this is your life we’re talking about. If you’re not in control of your own time, you control nothing.
Your dreams are at the mercy of smartphone alerts and random emails.
The distractions seem innocent, but each one adds up, little by little. Like a frog slowly boiling in a pot of water, the cost of these “innocent” diversions is your dreams.
If you want to start waking up getting more done, you need to be vigilant. But you also need to equip yourself with the right tools.
You need to train yourself to protect your own time, to reclaim it, and eventually towield it like an unrelenting warrior.
How to wake up get more done?
You have to develop a strategy to protect and consciously use your own time. First, you have to learn to trust yourself again and believe that you can become your own ally.
Next, learn to align all of your resources, internal and external. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the superpowers we all have within us and around us. Your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual resources.
When you learn to harness and then combine these resources, you become an unstoppable force in the world.
Distractions still happen, but they become much, much easier to avoid and detect when they’re about to happen.
Eventually, you become the King of your time, and your dreams have a fighting chance of becoming a reality.
To your success,
Martine
